Meet your doctor

A kind male doctor with a beard and short blond hair smiling outdoors in front of green foliage, wearing a black medical scrub top with the text 'Dr. Travis Simmons' embroidered on it. Primary care. Direct Primary Care. New Braunfels.

Hi! I’m Dr. Travis Simmons, a board-certified family physician with additional training in functional and integrative medicine. I practice primary care in New Braunfels, TX, where I’ve been caring for patients through the direct primary care model since 2022.

I was born in Texas, raised in northern New Mexico, and earned my biology degree at Texas A&M University (whoop!)—where I also met my amazing wife, Sarah. I went on to attend medical school at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, and from the very beginning, I knew I wanted to be a family doctor.

I started Simmons Family Medicine because I believe primary care should be personal, accessible, and centered around you. My approach blends conventional medical training with integrative and functional perspectives, allowing us to dig deeper into the root causes of illness and support long-term wellness—not just treat symptoms.

I enjoy caring for patients across all stages of life, and I especially focus on preventive care and chronic condition management. I regularly help patients with wellness visits, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, depression, anxiety, and hormonal changes like menopause and perimenopause. In fact, I’m proud to be the only Menopause Society Certified Practitioner in the New Braunfels area—bringing specialized, evidence-based support to women navigating this important life transition.

Practicing in a direct primary care model means I can offer longer visits, direct access by text or email, and an ongoing relationship—not rushed appointments and endless referrals. One of my patients recently said “it feels like having a doctor in the family”—and that’s exactly the kind of care I strive to provide.

Outside of medicine, I love spending time with my wife and sons, getting outdoors, running, gardening, cooking, fermenting, and diving into a good audiobook.
